Weather measurement system for an offshore converter platform

b.offshore GmbH has been commissioned to develop and construct a weather monitoring system for an offshore converter platform currently under construction. The system forms an integral part of the platform and records, processes and visualizes relevant weather and atmospheric data.

Key parameters include wind speed and direction, wave height, temperature, visibility and cloud height. Data from a wide range of sensors is consolidated, processed and analyzed in a central control unit. From there, it is transmitted via the platform’s internal communication system to visualization units and presented to operators in a clear and structured manner.

A key component of the project was the extensive development and design work. The individual components and the interaction of the overall system were tested under realistic conditions in numerous test runs, experimental set-ups and functional tests.

The construction and integration of the complete system took place at b.offshore GmbH’s own premises. Following the successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), the weather measurement system was delivered.

The subsequent installation and commissioning on site at the offshore converter platform were also carried out by b.offshore GmbH. The company thus delivered a reliable and safe solution for recording and providing key weather data for offshore operations.
